iNet Network Scanner App Reviews

Port Scanning

For the most part, this tool does what I need it to do…..discovery broadcasted nodes on my local subnet. One of the features lacking is the ability to scan more than just “65 ports”. It gives the impression for any customized networks no other service(s) are running. Lastly, having a default list of Windows icons would be nice as well. While I am on the subject instructions for customized icons would be nice as well.

Awesome Utility

I bought some Raspberry Pi devices and imaged them with Raspbian. This app made it so easy to discover them on my network. The app is very reasonably priced for all the bells and wistles it includes. Great work!

No support Airport Extreme

Still no support for Airport extreme which it really needs to find a way to do. The old airport utility can but this will not.

The iOS version is better.

The iOS version is better and fully functional. The Mac version would better described as a lite version of the iOS version. This has unfortently, been true since this application was orginally released. Save your money and just get the iOS version.

Handy Tool - leaks memory

I find the app very helpful for scanning networks however I have found that if I leave it running for several hours it causes my system to run out of application memory forcing me to reboot.

Not works

Not works in mountain lion, please fix it.

Now works in Mountain Lion!

Excellent app for network info.

Very close to iOS version

Ive enjoyed using the iOS version a lot, and especially, the WOL feature. The OS X version has all the same features (including WOL)- however, I have noticed that WOL only seems to be available on Lion. Ive tried to use wake-on-lan on Snow Leopard machines but it is absent from the menu. That aside, this being an OS X application, I would love to see some more features added that iOS may not be able to support. UPDATE 1.3.2 - Lost support for 32 bit. From 4 to 3 ***

Missing port scans

The iphone version of this app has the ability to do port scans, iirc. However, you cannot do any port scans with this app! All it does is show the computers currently on the network. I cannot give this app 5 stars without that feature.

Simple and effective network scanner

A qualuty network scanner with a clean interface and nice features. One of the better ones available in the App Store.

Very Good, but needs an update

** Updated Review after using it for a few weeks ** If you want to know what is on your network, and the status of the devices, this is your app. 5 stars for quality software that does what it says, and looks good doing it. Very easy to use. See not only the hosts, but what services are running, wifi strength to each device, and more. But it does need an update. It does not know that my iPhone 5 is an Apple product (but it is there). It cannot determine the Mac address for my 2011 Mac Mini on wireless (does on ethernet). And there is no Apple icon for an Airport Express Base Station. In fact it could use more stock icons (net cams, printers, et.).

Perfect Network Utility

This is hands down the best network tool Ive used. If youve had WiFi connectivity issues this is the App you need to figure out what is or is not talking to what. It just works. Best $$ Ive ever spent on software. Ive not begun to explore all of this Apps features, but it helped me connect a wireless printer that had defied all logic and efforts for days. It also focused on MY WiFi network and ignored a number of other weaker signals in the area.

Not so good!

The description gives a laundry list of what it can do but fails to mention what it cant do. It does not list all devices on the network. It does not work well with all routers and switches. It could not identify the name and status of known apple devices. Most features only work with Apple AirPort or Bonjour. I have IP Scanner and that program does show all devices and correctly identifies them. iNet may work better with Apple AirPort but failed miserably with Netgear. I had nine devices on the LAN and iNet only ID six, two they listed as "Host is hidden" with the "Online status uncertain". Two PC devices were totally missed. IMHO there are better net scanners besides this one.

Love this app!

I absolutely love this app! Ive got a mostly Apple based network (one AirPort Extreme latest gen, one AirPort Express latest gen, and a Cisco 16 port Gigabit Ethernet switch). This app does everything I want, and could possibly need. There is one caveat however, it doesnt have an icon and information for the the latest AirPort Express. If the Dev can fix that, I would gladly give this app 5 stars! Thanks for a useful and feature packed app!

Only scans AirPort routers

I dont have an AirPort router, the router monitoring only works with airport, a major disappointment.

Great!

Love the wake on LAN and naming features. Any chance you could add in some non apple type icons for servers (i.e. a Windows desktop icon)? Also I would love an option to store a user for ssh so I could login as "root" on many servers (as I have ssh authentication setup). Great app though!

Needs a few tweaks but is otherwise pretty good

Its a great versatile tool to have in my kit of networking tools. But I found a lack of a port scanner to be detrimental in order for me to work efficiently. Yes I do have other port scanners and other programs to counteract this form the lack of this port scanner. But I do have to say the command line was actually quite surprised considering I have not found an nice was designed interface but has a few bugs with executing.P.S. both firewalls on both computers were off along with no password was on the computered that was trying to be controlled. Apparently ports 20 and 21 was too great to handle. To quickly sum up its a very nice pretty powerful piece of software-- but it severely lacks critical tools such as a port scanner compared to Inet for the iphone. Also just saying being on your are Iphone at work why your bosses around and looking like your playing on it kind gets you in a bit trouble either though Im trying to do my job. so would be so kind as to add a port scanner or something that allows people to be at the test of a port is open or closed. The one major reason why i did not rate this program to be five stars is because of its few bugs and its lack of a port scanner, or to be more direct in straightforward of a obvious port scanner that they are to be manually engage and directed towards a specific targeted device.

OK but not accurate

Works pretty well but incorectly identifies devices. Also refuses to find the MAC address of my Airport Express. Needs more/better icons.

Works Like a Charm!

This app doesnt dissapoint.

App doesnt load

This app constantly crashes and is unuseable in its current form. It may have worked at one point, but now the application just hangs and must be force closed.
